In this workshop we will learn more about the themes, widgets, and plugins that are available to you in WordPress and how easily they can be added to your site. Though this may sound daunting, be assured that in keeping with the ease of use principal of a CMS, no coding is involved and is almost completely point-and-click and drag-and-drop...honest.
Workshop B: Up and Running with WordPress.
In Workshop A we discussed the principals of a CMS and the resources at your disposal. In this workshop, we put into practice what we’ve learned and will create a fully functional website using the WordPress CMS. All the tools and resources you need to create the site will be provided, at absolutely no cost.
Introduction to the WordPress Content Management Systems (CMS).
A CMS is a web application designed to make it easy for non-technical users to add, edit and manage a website, to include memberships and even e-commerce transactions. We will explore how to use a free version of WordPress hosted at WordPress.com, that enables you build a simple blog or website in just a couple of minutes. You will learn what is the difference between hosted and managed version of WordPress (downloaded from WordPress.org and installed at your own hosting).
