We are a for-profit based in Newburgh, NY that is working to create a network of learning opportunities in IT, Coding, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and digital technology at large. We partner with many organizations across Orange and Dutchess Counties to bring our programs to underserved children and adults in an effort to increase diversity in STEM education and careers.
We are a small but mighty group of people who believe in the power of STEM education and technology training. We work collaboratively across departments, both in person and remotely. All voices are heard and we keep an open mind to new ideas and approaches.
We have full-time and part-time job opportunities, including positions for educators and young adults.
Teaching & Tech Assistant (Part time)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tech and teaching assistants are critical and versatile employees whose tasks may include:
- Assist with program instruction
- Will have a working knowledge of curriculum to be able to assist participants with tasks (OpenHub will provide the training)
- Provide 1:1 instruction and/or support for participants who have difficulty with step-by-step instructions at Instructor’s direction
- Support the Instructor with overall classroom management
- Available for 1:1 tutoring assigned by Instructor outside of program times
- Assist with program equipment
- Available for in-class set-up and distribution of equipment to participants
- Ensure that all chromebooks and other equipment are working properly before and during distribution
- Able to assess and troubleshoot if problem arises with equipment
- Assist with technology support
- Follow tech support tickets
- 1:1 problem resolution, as needed
- Program support
- Assist the Programs Team in any facet of program development and implementation as needed
- Attend all in-person and virtual programs as assigned
- Be available to substitute for peers
- Be willing to assist participants who need extra assistance
REQUIREMENTS
- I9 Form including required identification to show employment eligibility
- All required HR paperwork
- Must have transportation or live in Newburgh area - work is at sites across Orange and Dutchess County, though mostly in the City of Newburgh
Hourly salary between minimum wage and $18 per hour

Program Associate & Enrichment Educator
Our wonderful team is growing! We are seeking an engaging candidate to join our collaborative environment and help with all sorts of hands-on programmatic work in tech. Our Programs Team focuses on reaching underserved populations in three areas: digital equity, STEM afterschool programs, and workforce development focused Tech Academy. Our Program Associates / Educators contribute their experience in education, tech industry experience and/or program management to the overall advancement of the Programs Team’s work and the mission of the OpenHub. Specifically, they collaborate to implement tech advancement programs using project plans to achieve designated goals.
This role does not require teacher certification and offers a variety of room to learn and grow. Rather, we’re looking for lifelong learners who are passionate and curious.
What you'll be doing
The responsibilities of this role may vary depending on the talents of the right candidate and the needs of our team. Having said that, it's likely that you'll be doing some of the things below, together with our Programs Team:
- Serve as a teacher in informal settings with community partners such as after-school programs, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, library systems, workforce development programs, BOCES, community college and more
- Learn to teach our specialized content such as:
- hands-on, innovative STEM workshops, classes, special events and programs for PreK-12 students and adults
- Digital Literacy curriculum to teach basic tech skills to families and adults with limited to no technology experience
- Assist with scholarship outreach to eligible families
- Communicate directly with clients via email, text and phone calls in a case management model for digital literacy outreach

- Assist with the supervision, training and coordination of other team members
- Serve as a teacher in out-of-school time and in other informal settings with community partners such as after school programs, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, preschools, library systems, workforce development programs and more
- Learn to teach our specialized content such as:
- hands-on, innovative STEM workshops, classes, special events and programs for PreK-12 students and adults
- Digital Literacy curriculum to teach basic tech skills to families and adults with limited to no technology experience
- Professional certificates in Web Dev, Data Analytics, IT support, Digital Marketing, Cybersecurity
- Manage inventory of our program materials to ensure smooth program implementation
- Communicate directly with clients via email, text and phone calls in a case management model for digital equity outreach
- Attend conferences and professional development experiences to grow skills and be an ambassador of our work across Orange County and NY State

Executive Assistant (Part time)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tech and teaching assistants are critical and versatile employees whose tasks may include:
- Student Engagement and Community Outreach
- Student support & communication,
- Efficient knowledge and experience working with spreadsheets / Excel
- Good communications skills, verbal and written
- Working with class rosters and attendance
- Support the Instructors and staff with overall classroom management
- Program support
- Space reservation and scheduling
- Assist the Programs Team in any facet of program development and implementation as needed
- Attend all in-person and virtual programs as assigned
- Be willing to assist participants who need extra assistance
